Special Preregistered Training Days
Anyone want to do some dog training?
Things are not quite back to normal, but the DNR has agreed to allow organized groups of 10 or less to train at the Mead. With this limitation in mind we have developed the following plan.
The Mead will be broken into 4 areas, Puppy/NA field, Working Toward Utility Field, Just Working a Dog Field, and Duck Search. Volunteers will be available at each area to assist in the training and distribute bird orders. Trainers will need to preorder birds, preregister for an area, and will be assigned a time slot for training. There will be NO general group gathering to start the day, nor will there be an organized lunch. Trainers should report directly to their assigned area at their assigned time and then leave the Mead after training.
Our goal is to support as many people as possible for training by splitting into distinct areas and using time-slots to avoid gatherings of more than 10 individuals.
This procedure will be in place for training on August 22nd. We will adjust the remaining training dates as the situation continues to unfold.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the complications of training in these strange times. We're looking forward to some safe fun with everyone and their dogs!

To register to train on August 22nd:
- Please email Brent Catura – [email protected] to request a training slot, be sure to include your desired field and any training goals. Registration emails must be received by Wednesday August 19th so we can create and communicate the schedule to everyone.
- Please order any Ducks or Chuckers from Brent - [email protected].
- Please order Pigeons using the bird order form on the website.
- Please get your bird orders in by August 17th.
Other items:
- Please do not bring any visitors. We need to keep to 1 handler per dog to meet the DNR requirements. The only exception will be a youth handler attending with an adult member.
- Please do not come if you are not registered to train nor scheduled to volunteer. We need to control the number of attendees.
- Please be ON TIME for your time slot. We need to keep to the schedule to avoid grouping up. If you are too late, we may be forced to skip you.
- Do not feel pressured to come, if you are not comfortable for whatever reason please stay home.
- Please do not come, even if you have registered, if you are feeling ill or showing any symptoms.
- Masks are a personal preference. If you would like to wear one, or if you would like the volunteers assisting you to wear one, just ask, we will be happy to comply.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the complications of training in these strange times. We're looking forward to some safe fun with everyone and their dogs!
