April 29 Training Day RecapWe had a great turnout for our April 29 Training Day. We had 64 people, and 50 dogs! The day started with a demonstration of Steadiness. After watching the demo, Vice President TJ McKenzie talked to members about different techniques that can be used, and then members had a chance to ask questions and then do some practice during their time in the field. The puppy field had a great time working with young dogs, introducing them to birds and working on pointing. Check out some scenes from the training day - photo credits Autumn Koback and Deb Mella. Hello NCW NAVHDA Members! I am trying out a new format for sharing information with our chapter. I have created a blog that should be easy to reference in the future if you have any questions about dates, times, or upcoming events. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Deb Mella NCW NAVHDA Secretary Training Photos from April 1, 2023First Training Day RecapIt was NO JOKE... Saturday, April 1 was our first training day of the season, and Mother Nature wasn't quite done with us for the winter. Heavy snow and wind in the Northern part of the state prevented several from attending. For those that did attend, the morning was chilly, but after the snow ended, we ended up with a beautiful sunny day. We had about 40 people who attended and there were 13 dogs in the Natural Ability field - all indicated that they will be testing their pups this year. There were 14 dogs in the Utility field - half indicated that they are planning to test this year. If you weren't able to attend, we hope to see you at the next training day on Saturday, April 29 at 8:00 am. Check out our training calendar for the complete 2023 schedule. Order your Training Birds Today! Birds MUST BE ORDERED at least TEN day prior to training days. Bird orders are due on or before Wednesday, April 19 for the upcoming April 29 training day. Presidents Notes / RecapOur first training day of 2023 was a wildly erratic weather day. The north woods area had 18” of snow. But by afternoon, we had sun. We delayed the start time to 9am and that helped some make it to the training day. We had a great turn out and had a great time training in the beautiful afternoon sunshine. Lots of dogs were worked.
The next training day is Saturday, April 29th starting at 8am. Get your birds ordered ASAP. Unfortunately, I will miss the April 29th training day as I’ll be judging in southern CA that weekend. We will have everything set up for a successful training day. I will see everyone in May for training. Brent Catura Hello NCW NAVHDA Chapter Members,
We have finalized the training calendar for the Mead Grounds this season. Our first training day is Saturday, April 1. Despite some snow on the ground, we are planning to hold the training day. Reminder to place your bird orders as soon as possible - we will only have pigeons available at this training day. You can access the training grounds schedule here. Deb Mella NCW NAVHDA Secretary |
